My name is Anat Nina. I live in Kiryat Ono and am a mother of two. I studied art at the Avni Institute in Tel Aviv with a specializtion in multimedia and performance art. I began exhibiting my work immediately after completing my studies in 1997.
 
In 1999 I founded- along with my then partner David Shalev- the shoe store "Shoofra" where I created and managed the brand's design, marketing and purchasing. 

Between 2003 and 2007 I lived in New York where I expanded my art skills by studying various crafts including embroidery, crochet and wood carving. During this time I also developed my collage technique.  

Over the past decade I increasingly felt that I've reached a dead end in my life and art. This feeling set off a process of introspection and the beginning of substantial changes in my life. 
Art has always been a healing tool for me and the introspective process proved this to me. 
As a victim of childhood sexual trauma, artistic creation is the only tool which allows me to express difficult emotions and secrets that I was hiding even from myself. 

As someone with post trauma I've dealt with the reality of loss of control in my life. I roamed the world with a heavy secret which wounded me from within. 
Through creation I built worlds where I decide the rules, the boundaries, the language. 
I created a safe place where I can freely express myself. 

My art is playful, colorful, joyful, naive and sometimes sad (or maybe frightening?). Art which allows me to freely express myself by bypassing mind, which blends within it everything absorbed by me from the outside in and from the inside out- it has no boundaries.
I am curious about trying new materials and techniques, always happy to learn new things.
My art is my way of observing the world and trying to understand it and my attempt to escape from it to a safe haven full of textures, colors and creatures who can only exist there.
